Delete your account and data

You can ask us to delete your LMY Church account and the data attached to it at any time. There is no charge and you do not need to give a reason.

How to request deletion

  1. Send an email to melkatole1@gmail.com with the subject “LMY Church account deletion request”.
  2. Send it from the email address on the account, or, if you signed in with a phone number, include that phone number so we can verify it is you.
  3. Say whether you want your whole account deleted, or only specific data (for example your profile photo or your quiz history).

We confirm receipt within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What is deleted

  • Your sign-in account (email address, Google link or phone number) and its authentication record.
  • Your profile: display name, profile and cover photos, date of birth, gender, language and theme preferences.
  • Your saved activity: bookmarks and highlights, daily-verse reads and reading streak, quiz attempts and scores.
  • Your Bible-study group memberships, join requests and presence records.
  • Your notification tokens, so the app stops sending to your devices.

What may be kept, and for how long

  • Messages you sent in a Bible-study group. On request we delete them; otherwise, so that the conversation stays readable to the other members, we may keep the message text with your name removed. Tell us in your email which you prefer.
  • Records we must keep by law, for as long as the law requires.
  • Backups. Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before those backups expire.
  • Crash and analytics records held by Firebase, which are not linked to your name and expire on Firebase’s own schedule (crash reports up to 90 days, analytics events up to 14 months).

Deleting only part of your data

You do not have to delete the whole account to remove most things. In the app you can change or clear your profile photo, name, date of birth and gender, remove bookmarks, and leave a Bible-study group. For anything you cannot change yourself, email us and we will do it.

Guest accounts

If you use the app as a guest, no name, email or phone number is held about you. Uninstalling the app ends the guest session and its stored progress.
